BulkMail.thor V2.0
© Neil Bothwick, 1997
BullkMail was originally written to send copies of a mail message to
multiple recipients. since i had a need to send these out as
individual mails, including multiple recipients on the To: line or
using cc: were not suitable.
Several people have asked for enhancements, so here is version 2.
Features of BulkMail 2.0
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
* Searches on either comment or alias field of user database for
matching addresses
* Send a separate mail to each recipient, or a single mail with
the other recipients on a Cc: or Bcc: header
* Search the user database using a string based on the address of
the original message, or from a user-defined hotlist
* Either use all matching address, or select from a list.
Using BulkMail 2.0
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1) Create the mail message you wish to send
2) Select this message in the Events Editor and run BulkMail
3) Enter a search string, you can either type it in, use the from
address or select a string from your own hotlist. The hotlist is
useful if you regularly send mails to groups of people. You need
to create the hotlist yourself, it is called BulkMail.hotlist and
needs to be in the data directory for the current system (e.g. BBS0)
4) Select to search on either Alias or comment
5) You will be shown the number of matches and be given the choice of
using all of them, or selecting from the list
6) Choose either to send separate mails to each recipient, or to add
them to the current mail as Cc: or Bcc: headers. The difference
between the last two is that the the Cc: (carbon copy) header will
appear in all copies of the mail received, whereas Bcc: (blind
carbon copy) won't
7) If you chose separate messages, you will be given the option of
deleting the original message.
Bug reports
~~~~~~~~~~~
I have tested BulkMail here, but would appreciate reports on any bugs
you may find. I would also like to here from anyone who uses it
without any problems, just so I know it's working OK.
